Leopard Wedding Dress and More From Harper's Bazaar

The Patricia Schmid Harper’s Bazaar Japan August 2010 magazine spread was just released and it definitely has people talking. From the looks of it, this shoot has a sort of wedding-esque vibe sprinkled with some glam-celeb vintage nuances. Bold brides are going to love this inspiration while traditional brides may turn up their nose to it. Either way, we'll let you make that decision for yourself. Click on the images for a larger view.

The Fiber-optic Wedding Dress

When Alison Lewis was asked to design a wedding dress with a certain special feature, she had not idea that the bride would be requesting for the dress to light up! After jumping at the chance, she quickly turned this challenge into a beautiful piece of fashion, the fiber-optic wedding dress.
Luminex, a fiber-optic fabric imported from Italy, was used to light up the wedding dress. This gave the dress a soft glowing undercoat without blinding onlookers and guests.
The entire fiber-optic wedding dress runs on 4 AAA batteries, which are located in a hidden pocket.
The final illuminated dress has a soft glowing under skirt with a splash of light on the bodice and finishes at the shoulders with feather-like tendrils.
Alison says: "The lighting design was intended to be simple with warm and cool whites. There were no flashing bulbs or severe bright spots. The spectacle of a lighted dress is enough on its own, there was no need to over do it with intense changing colors or a blinding reflection."

Bride Breaks Guinness Record With World's Longest Wedding Dress

It took guests more than three hours to roll out the gown of Lin Rong, a Chinese bride who recently broke into the Guinness Book of World Records by wearing the world's longest wedding dress. Costing almost $6,000 and complete with 9,999 silk red roses attached to it, Lin's dress measures in at 2 km (1.2 miles) and was completely handmade by her groom's family. The former old record was set in Romania with a dress that was recorded at 1.5 km long.
