There is a big difference in how some people think wedding photographers spend their time (and how some photographers WISHED they could spend their time):

There seems to be a lot of misconceptions regarding what wedding photographers actually do all week. The ISPWP conducted a survey with a mass group of wedding photographers and discovered what photographers really are doing besides take pictures every weekend. Very interesting and informative. 1. oh yes! finally someone shows our lives off to the public! hehe :) i'll vouch for this graph (the second one!) for sure. as a pro photographer, partying like rock stars and traveling to exotic places, doesn't happen as often as it should! ~Alice

  3. Ah yes, definitely not flying to exotic locations or partying like rockstars! Most of us are working 40+ hours a week doing all the backend stuff not just shooting!

  6. This is soooo true. It's not the glamorous life people think it is. But, maybe, just maybe, we should take 1% off of the taking photos and add a new category of partying like a rock star... because it does happen ;)

  9. Two things not on the graph: researching and learning. Maybe it falls into other categories, like blogging or communicating with clients or banking? Maybe partying like rock stars is considered educational?

  10. Being a wedding photographer is pretty unglamorous when you spell it out like that! I love it when people say it must be so relaxing to only work 1/2 days a week and to have so much time to do what you want... oh if only I could just take photos and the rest of the business took care of itself!
